“Ask Andy Warhol if he can make a logo for us!"
In 1984, teenage Carl Haggqvist got a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: during a visit to New York with his uncle and grandfather, he stepped into Andy Warhol’s Factory. Boldly, Carl asked Warhol if he could create a logo for their Swedish band RATFAB. Warhol humbly agreed and produced five hand-drawn versions of the band name—one of which became the cover of their second single, today a highly valuable collector’s item.
Forty years later, four previously unseen Warhol covers are revealed in a series of limited, colored 7-inch vinyl singles. The first release, “Bang City," comes on yellow vinyl matching the artwork and is limited to 500 numbered copies—a rare blend of music and iconic art.
The single features artists Charlie E and Lira End, each interpreting RATFAB’s “Bang City" in their own way, bridging past and present with fresh takes on a classic track. Both versions capture the spirit of the 1980s while adding a modern touch. “Bang City (Charlie E’s Theme)" is produced and mixed by Oliver Stenberg. “Bang City (Lira End’s Theme)" is produced by Johan Lindegren and mixed by Oliver Stenberg.
A true collector’s gem: Warhol’s Factory meets Stockholm’s new wave—on vinyl for the first time.
This is the first in a series of four singles, each presenting a unique variation of Andy Warhol’s iconic Ratfab logo.
